Basics of point-set topology: topological spaces, continuity, connectedness, compactness, products, quotients. Surfaces and simplicial complexes, Euler characteristics. Introductory algebraic topology: simplicial homology, the fundamental group.**Evaluation:**2 tests, final exam, weekly homework, presentations.**Grade Breakdown:**

- homework: 40%
