This page provides access to two distinct systems that support the needs of students, faculty, and staff at Marshall University. Below, you’ll find descriptions and access instructions for both systems:
MUBERT
MUBERT is a public-facing system offering a variety of tools and resources for students and the Marshall University community. These include:
- Schedule of Courses: View current and upcoming class schedules.
- Syllabus Repository: Find syllabi for your courses.
- Course Scheduler Tool: Create your ideal class schedule.
- Institutional Research Data Request Form: Submit requests for institutional data.
Some parts of MUBERT require login with your Marshall University credentials for personalized access, but VPN is not required to use MUBERT, even off-campus.
BERT (BRITE)
BERT is a private, administrative system designed for faculty and staff. It provides tools for generating reports and accessing data from Marshall's Enterprise Student Information System (Ellucian Banner™). BERT offers secure access to information under the direction of the Office of Academic Affairs.
Access Requirements:
- Authentication: Use your Marshall University MUNet credentials.
- Username:
marshall\MUNet_ID
(e.g.,marshall\smith12
) or your email address (e.g.,smith12@marshall.edu
). - Password: Your regular MUNet password (same as used for campus PCs).

- VPN or On-Campus Connection:
- Off-campus users must connect via Marshall's VPN.
- On-campus users can access BERT without VPN.
